WLOS TV: Mountain Area Workforce Development Board receives funding to support individuals who have lost their job due to COVID-19

From WLOS TV: Governor Roy Cooper has announced North Carolina has received a $6 million dollar federal grant to help workers in families who have been struggling with finances due to this pandemic.

Through the grant, eligible residents can receive certain employment services or workforce training for industries that are hiring workers.

Nathan Ramsey, the director of the Mountain Area Workforce Development Boardsays this could even create permanent job opportunities here in the mountains.

“These will be permanent jobs,” Ramsey told News 13. “There is a component of that program our region did not participate in where you could provide temporary employment, but we have many permanent jobs in our region.”
