Career Resources offers a wide variety of self-services. Just come into the office and start your job planning. Feel free to ask for assistance if you need it.
Our Resource Area is available on a walk-in, self-service basis to access employment information via state-of-the-art technology and software. Upon request, each customer will be provided with guided or one-on-one assistance in using resume writing, word processing or other services as needed.
The Reference Area contains books, brochures, videos and multimedia materials related to employment, training and education.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS:
Our Veteran's Program has Veterans Representatives to help match your skills to a job in the labor market. Employers realize that veterans are mature, dependable employees with productive work habits. If you are a Veteran, the job related skills and experience you developed while in your country's service can serve you well now also.
Our Older Worker Program is designed to assist economically disadvantaged workers 55 years old or more to enter the workforce. Whether it be through job search, classroom training, on-the-job training or job readiness workshops, we can assist you in translating past work experience into valuable skills in the current job market.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT (offers you the short-term skill development or long-term training you need to land a good job):
Employment Counseling can help you discover your interests and abilities and choose a career.
Assessment Services are available to customers who request assistance in making more informed employment, education and career planning decisions. Instruments that measure aptitudes, interests, work values and basic skills are utilized to provide a comprehensive occupational profile for the customer. The profile can be used as a guidance tool for job placement, referral, selection of a course of study, skill remediation or expansion, and career planning and development.
On-The-Job-Training may be available when you need additional training to perform a job. In this program, employers pay you a salary while you work and learn the job.
Financial Aid and Occupational Skills Training are available if you decide that school is what you need. Staff accesses information and services from numerous financial aid programs. If you qualify, you could enter programs that take only weeks or earn one or two year degrees through the Community College system.
