On-the-Job Training (OJT) Contracts

The On-the-Job Training program is designed to help businesses off-set the costs of training new hires who do not have experience in the jobs for which they are being hired.  The employer will receive a 50% reimbursement of wages that are paid to the eligible new hire during the agreed upon training period. 

• The employer places a Job Order with the local JobLink Career Center.
• The Workforce Board OJT Specialist will work with the employer to establish a written training plan that will prepare new hires to perform the job effectively.
• Together, the employer and the local JobLink Center will recruit and screen job applicants.
• The OJT Specialist will interview and determine the eligibility of candidates for the OJT program.
• Based on the skill requirements of the job and the prior experience of the candidate that the employer selects, an OJT Contract will be developed that specifies:
• the training plan,
• the rate of wage reimbursement to the employer and
• the duration of the training. 
• Once the contract is in place and the new hire begins training, the employer and the OJT Specialist work together to help the new hire achieve success on the job.
